I hope to keep this list live and will attempt to add to it regularly:

Grooming

How often should I have my dog groomed?
This depends on the breed and state of your pet's coat. Short haired dogs can go for upto 6 months without a groom quite comfortably however, other breeds such as bijon, cocker spaniel or shitzu will need a more regular groom, perhaps every 6-8 weeks, depending how you like to keep the coat. I am always happy to discuss your pet's needs and will offer fair advice.

Do you offer hand-stripping?
No, I don't offer hand-stripping but we can use blades that give a rough terrier clip.

What shampoos and conditioners do you use?
Allywags uses a selection of natural shampoos and conditioners. We can also offer a medicated shampoo bath or flea rinse however, if your pet has prescribed shampoo we request that you supply this.

What is holistic?
The word holistic has been misused over the years and now describes anything that is 'natural' and 'healthy'.

What if my pet's coat is matted?
Where possible we will cut out and remove the matts. If heavily matted we may need to clip all the coat as the dogs comfort is always our priority. We will discuss this with you beforehand.

Do you feed treats when you groom?
Allywags will not feed any treats to your dog that have not been provided by the owner.

What shampoo do you use?
Allywags uses professional brand dog shampoos and if requested a medicated shampoo or flea wash can be given. If your dog has a prescribed shampoo we will wash with this at your request.

Do you cut nails?
Yes - this is part of our regular service.

Do you express anal glands?
Yes - this is part of our regular service

Do you offer a collection service?
A collection service can be arranged.

Boarding and Walking

Where do dogs sleep that board with Allywags?
Dogs that stay with Allywags sleep in the house as one of our own dogs. At night they are tired and content and settle down for a good night's sleep.

Do you allow dogs off lead?
Dogs will only be given off lead freedom on walks if they are trained to recall and we have the owners permission.

Why would I leave my pet with Allywags?
Allywags provides a home from home, a friendly place with a dog loving family, for your pet when you go away. They will be treated to the same love and affection that we give our own dogs and you can be assured that they will get plenty of exercise, socialisation and have lots of fun.

How many dogs do you have in to stay?
Allywags are fortunate to have the space, capacity and permission to board upto 6 dogs however, depending on size, and recognising the attention that some of our boarders require, we will rarely have this many staying. There is always a lot of activity at Allywags and we find that dogs that socialise, are kept occupied and regularly exercised have a thoroughly enjoyable time and look forward to returning.

What are Allywags Boarding and Day Creche opening times?
At Allywags we have the luxury of being able to offer a very flexible service for all of our clients but as we run our business from home there are just a few restrictions that apply. We do not allow collections or drop offs on Christmas Day or Easter Sunday or after 1800 on Sundays. However, during the week we are open for business early and we will aim to accomodate your requests to pick up or set down into the evening where practicable. We do like dogs that are coming in for boarding to arrive earlier rather than later which allows them to play, be walked and settled down before going to bed for the night.
